Born out of a unique vision, UPES is India's First Energy University and Asia's First & only Energy & Core Sector University. UGC and NAAC recognised, UPES offers over 45 graduate, postgraduate and doctoral programs to more than 5000 students in the high growth sectors of Oil & Gas, Power, Aviation, Shipping, Automobile, Infrastructure and Logistics & Supply Chain. A statutory university, UPES was established in 2003 through an act of the State Legislature of Uttarakhand with a picturesque, 30-acre campus in Pondha valley, Dehradun.

UPES is an endeavour of Hydrocarbons Education & Research Society (HERS), a non-profit organisation dedicated to promoting education and training in Energy & allied sectors. Since its inception, UPES has become the "Institute of Choice" for students and corporates in the Energy and Core sectors.

The university today has moved beyond energy & petroleum and has repositioned itself as the Nation-builders’ university. College of Management and Economic Studies (CMES) of the university - having seventy full-time faculty members from various functional and domain-focused disciplines and offering nine MBA programs, four BBA programs as well as Executive MBA & PhD programs through the Centre for Continuing Education (CCE) of the University and Management Development Programs (MDPs) through Centre for Management Development (CMD) – is poised to emerge as a leading B school in the area of infrastructure and core sector.


University of Petroleum and Energy Studies (UPES) Dehradun – is Asia’s first energy & core sector University. It has now repositioned itself as the nation-builders’ university. Its College of Management & Economic Studies (CMES), announces its first International Conference on Management of Infrastructure (ICMI) to be held on February 09-10, 2017  

In line with the CMES areas of interests, the following four major themes have been chosen to deliberate upon at the Conference:

  • Energy (oil & gas, power, renewables);
  • Transportation (aviation, rail & road, port & shipping),
  • Resources & Facilities (urban & rural infrastructure, mining, water environment and land, telecom, IT)
  • Soft Infrastructure (education, healthcare, tourism)

ICMI intends to provide an interdisciplinary forum for discussion, debate and dissemination of information about the newer ways of addressing growing complexities and emerging challenges in ever changing infrastructure sector. It will have a mosaic of activities including presentation of theme based empirical and conceptual papers & posters, case studies & doctoral thesis.

ICMI will bring together on one platform the thought leaders from academics and corporate, financial institutions, regulatory bodies, government agencies, NGOs, etc.


  • Best paper from each theme, judged by the Conference Committee, will be published in soft format 
  • A select number of papers as chosen by the Conference Committee will be published as an edited book through a reputed publishing house.
  • There will be a best paper award for each theme of the ICMI-2017
